Take It Outside!
Take Your Workout Outside
If exercise-based New Year’s resolutions are wearing thin, and/or if you just cannot wait to get outside once it finally warms up, New York City’s parks have you covered! There are countless play fields, quite a few full-size athletic tracks, and several outdoor gyms with fitness equipment all over the city, all of which are free and open to the public every day.
You can find the parks department’s full list of outdoor exercise options HERE; several New York Calisthenics parks are featured on THIS WEBSITE in more detail; AND we have highlighted a few of our favorites below:
1) Riverbank Park (pictured above, photo credit thecuriousuptowner.com) – technically a state park, this one is not listed on the NYC parks site. It has a recently-renovated full-size track and an indoor athletic center, alongside beautiful Hudsdon River views.
2) East River Outdoor Gym – a variety of all-new exercise equipment lined up right next to a scenic walking path.
3) McCarren Park – with a full-size running track, outdoor fitness equiptment, and just a few blocks from Williamsburg’s Smorgasburg.
4) Astoria Park – features an outdoor track and sweeping views of Manhattan. Bonus: this park is less than a mile from the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden.
